Summer Fun Without Breaking The Bank

Summer is officially here and I am sure you are ready to get out of the house and have fun in the sun. With gas prices on the rise as well as the cost of living, you might be worried about expenses. Here are a few cheap and free things you could do this summer without draining your bank account.

  1. Check out what your city or community has to offer. There are local parks you can visit for free. Playgrounds, splashpads, bike trails and so much more. Simply research the best parks in your area.
  2. Swim at your community pool or beach. Grab your towel and sunscreen and find the nearest location for you to splash around for a few hours.
  3. Take a bike ride. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring a water bottle as you take a nice ride through your neighborhood or local park trails. You can find some great trails through your local park services.
  4. Go camping. You can easily set up camp in your own backyard. Pitch a tent, roast some marshmallows and sleep under the stars. One of the best perks is if you need something, your house is just a few steps away.
  5. If music is your thing, go to an outdoor concert. During the summer months, many parks offer free outdoor concerts. Bring a blanket, snacks, and drinks while enjoying being outside listening to some good tunes.

Other fun, easy, and simple ideas could be reading a book, drawing on the sidewalk with chalk, blowing bubbles, taking a walk, playing basketball, catch, or even kicking a soccer ball around. Most of all enjoy the summer sunshine.
